President Carter

A true enemy of Israel.

President Jimmy Carter is an enemy of Israel and a friend of Israel's enemies.

Carter is regarded by many as one of America's worst ever presidents...

And that is something, considering the serious competition for 'worst ever president'

from the likes of George W Bush and others.

Carter's deep hatred of Israel has led him to re-write history and produce the most vicious lies and false accusations against Israel. He even wrote a book comparing Israel with the racist apartheid regime of South Africa.

Being generous to Carter, you might excuse this evil accusation as coming from an ignorant and misinformed person who has never learned anything about the history of the Middle East and never tried to find out the facts about modern reality over there.

Unfortunately, the Stupidity excuse is not available to Carter, since he was President and had access to vast amounts of information which gave the true picture of the situation... if only he had been willing to consider it objectively.

Like a few of Israel's worst non-Muslim enemies, Carter claims to be a Christian...

That is, he claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe to be the Messiah of Israel and the world.

And he claims to believe the Bible... which is the Tanakh (The Law, The Prophets and the Writings) plus what Christians call the New Testament, which documents the birth, life and death of Jesus.

The mystery is... how can a man who claims to follow Jesus the Jew have such consistent burning hatred for Israel?

How can a man claim to follow Jesus... then turn around and curse and slander and persecute the people of Jesus?

Does Carter not know that the Messiah he claims to follow was born as a Jew, in the Jewish city of Bethlehem?

Has he never read the Bible he claims to believe and has he somehow missed or forgotten all the promises God made

to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob?  Has Carter forgotten God's very serious promise to bless those who bless Israel... and to curse those who curse Israel?

Some regard Carter as a vicious anti-semite... his evil actions and false accusations against God's Chosen People and Chosen Land support this conclusion.

Whatever his underlying motives, which we can safely leave to God to judge and reward or punish accordingly, the fact is that the present deadly situation Israel and America find themselves in is to a large extent the result of President Carter's foolish and naive liberal worldview and disastrous policies.

Does that sound like an extreme exaggeration?

What Carter did during his short time as president (1976-1980) is now bearing fruit... poisonous and deadly fruit.

Consider... Land for Peace...

It was Carter who took the first step down the road to disaster by encouraging / pressuring / blackmailing Israel to do something new in history... pushing a peaceful, democratic country, a true friend of America, to hand over land captured in a defensive war to those who were committed to destroying Israel. When in history did ANY country suffer invasion and a war to wipe it off the map... win that defensive war against all the odds... then hand over the land to it's defeated but unrepentent enemy?

Carter pushed Israeli Prime Minister Begin to sign a foolish and naive 'peace treaty' with Egypt.

It was a good deal for Egypt, who got back at the negotiating table what they had never and could never win on the battlefield.

All of Sinai and it's oil... plus the new roads and airfields built by Israel... free.

It was (apparently) a good deal for America too... helping win hearts and minds in the Arab world as America was seen to be siding with the 'poor oppressed Arabs' against Israel... but this imagined positive result turned out to be an illusion that existed only in the minds of naive and liberal folks in Washington and in the media.

It was a disaster for Israel.

The fatally flawed foundation of the 'Land for Peace' process started by President Carter was that Israel would give up real land and real security NOW... in exchange for pieces of paper, promising some kind of 'peace' sometime LATER.

It was upside down and backwards.

Carter was very naive to think that having done everything they could to destroy Israel but failed, the Arabs would suddenly

see the error of their ways and make real and lasting peace with Israel if only Israel would return the land just lost by the Arabs in their war to erase Israel...

The rational way to approach 'Land for Peace' would have been to reverse the order of the process.

'Peace for Land' would have been a far more realistic concept.

Instead of a victorious Israel handing over the Sinai to a defeated but unreformed Egypt first, in exchange for meaningless promises of 'peace' sometime later... real peace should have been established and tested first... for at least ten or twenty years before ANY handover of land was even considered... and only to be considered on the condition that the peace established was actually real and permanent.

Sadly, Carter and his friends started the disastrous 'Land for Peace' process which has produced (Israeli) Land for the Arabs... but has failed to produce any real Peace at all for Israel.   The reality is that 'Land for Peace' is an illusion, a deadly deception.

It should be called what it really is... 'Land for Nothing'... or Israel's Unconditional Surrender.

This process is taking us towards a devastating war, not towards peace.

Somehow, 'Land for Nothing' must be stopped and reversed.

But  those who are determined to 'continue the peace process' (= continue the piece process, destroying Israel one piece at a time) are committed, determined and ruthless.

They will kill or otherwise destroy anyone who poses a threat to their evil plans to erase Israel.

Ask assassinated Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Supposedly murdered by a 'right-wing extremist' to stop the peace process, Rabin was actually assassinated by

those nice, peace-loving leftists and their friends in Washington, precisely because he finally realised that 'Land for Peace'

was a dead end for Israel and could only lead to war. When Rabin at last saw the light and refused to continue down the road to destruction, he had to be removed. He became an 'obstacle to peace'...  More on Rabin later...

Back to President Carter...

Thanks to Carter, Israel not only lost Sinai and it's strategic depth needed to fight any future war against an unreformed, unchanged, rabidly anti-Israel Egypt... it also lost control of Gaza... which in turn threatens Israeli cities like Sderot and Ashkelon.

Imagine if Israel had NOT accepted Carter's 'Land for Peace' plan and had stayed in Sinai, offering Egypt 'Peace for Peace' instead... How many terrorist arms smuggling tunnels would there be crossing into Gaza? None.

It would take even the most determined 'palestinians' a long long time to dig first under the Suez Canal, then all the way across Sinai to Gaza... impossible, in fact.

The long-suffering residents of Sderot can thank President Carter for making a major contribution towards the rain of Arab rockets falling on them from Arab-occupied Gaza... when the front line of the war should have been on the Suez Canal.

That is not the end of Carter's disastrous legacy.

Not only folks in southern Israel are suffering because of his failed policies...

Everyone in northern Israel is also in danger thanks to Carter.

One of Carter's greatest (worst) achievements was to help the anti-Israel, anti-American Islamic fundamentalists

of Ayatollah Khomeini to overthrow the Shah of Iran... removing a good friend of America and Israel... and replacing him with what we see now...

Carter totally misunderstood the reality of political life in the Middle East.

It is a rough and dangerous neighborhood.   But well-meaning (maybe) and naive (definitely) Carter tried to impose his own nice, tolerant, liberal view of the world on the Shah of Iran.

Ultimately, by pressuring the Shah to 'play nice' with those who were committed to removing him and building either a Soviet-style communist state or a fundamentalist Islamic state, Carter helped bring down the Shah and lose Iran... he was, of course helped by the French, who were happy to give the Ayatollah Khomeini refuge...

So imagine a different history.

Suppose instead of judging and condemning our good friend the Shah of Iran for failing to behave as if he was governing a liberal western democracy, like Canada or New Zealand, and pressuring him not to behave like the strong leader he needed to be to survive in a hostile environment, surrounded by enemies inside and outside Iran... suppose President Carter had supported and encouraged the Shah, and instead pressured France to isolate or even send the revolutionary Ayatollah back to Iran...

Imagine a world without Hezbollah...

Without the Islamic revolution there would be no terrorist state in Iran.

Without Islamic Iran, Syria would be less dangerous and Lebanon would not be such a problem.

And as we approach 2009, we see that Islamic Iran will soon (in months, rather than years) have their own nuclear weapons and missiles to deliver them.

The tough regime of the Shah of Iran was a friend of the West.

Thanks to President Carter, we got rid of the 'oppressive' Shah...

Instead, we have a fanatical, terrorist Islamic Republic of Iran which is even more harsh in dealing with opponents or critics...

And is sponsoring terror worldwide... arming Hezbollah... subverting Lebanon... supporting Syria...

And is on the edge of completing their nuclear weapons program, having promised and boasted about erasing Israel...

Thank you, Jimmy Carter... a great achievement.

So those in Israel can remember Carter and his legacy, every time another rocket from Gaza hits Sderot or Ashkelon.

And as the shadow of a nuclear armed, fanatical, impossible to deter Iran looms ever larger over the Middle East,

think about President Carter... Without him, it might have been so different.
