Obadiah and America.

The Prophet Obadiah gave the following prophecy.
It is recorded in what is the shortest and possibly least-read book of the Bible.
For those who understand God's promises and faithfulness to Israel, the words of Obadiah
are a warning against betraying Israel... and a picture of America's future.
Read Obadiah and consider America's betrayal of Israel under Bush and Obama.
Maybe Obadiah wrote... for just such a time as this.
This prophecy seemed very relevant a few years ago, as Bush pleased his Saudi friends
and betrayed Israel.
Given the first few weeks of Obama, his actions against Israel, and the foolish politicians
in Washington who seem to have lost their senses in dealing with the political, military and economic
threats facing America... Obadiah seems even more relevant today.

The vision of Obadiah.
Thus says the Lord concerning Edom.....................( America)
We have heard a rumor from the Lord,
and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, (God is stirring up the nations
Arise and let us rise up against her in battle. (to rise up against America
v2
Behold I have made you small among the heathen.
You are greatly despised.
Does not say Edom (America) is small... but has been made small (made to appear weak)
in the eyes of the heathen, by God. Very true. America is greatly despised, probably the least popular country on the planet, apart from Israel.
v3
The pride of your heart has deceived you. (US Presidents, State Dept, think tanks etc)
You who dwell in the clefts in the rock (live in safety, even in underground bunkers)
Whose habitation is high (nobody has skyscrapers like America)
Who says in his heart 'Who can bring me down?' (Who can beat us? thinks America)
v4
Though you exalt yourself as the eagle (national symbol of America)
and though you set your nest among the stars (US space program, space station)
from there I will bring you down, says the Lord. (how the mighty will be fallen)
v5
If thieves came to you, would they not steal only what they wanted?
If harvesters came, would they not leave something behind?
How cut off you are!
(America's economy will be broken.
(Thieves take only what is valuable,
(Harvesters leave scraps behind
(But America will be stripped
(of everything it has.
v6
How are the things of Esau searched out! (America will lose it's hidden wealth,
How are his hidden things sought up! (That is, it's secret knowledge and
(technology... used to make wealth...
(and weapons... to its enemies.
v7
All the men of thy confederacy (all of your Middle Eastern allies)
have brought thee even to the border (have brought you to the edge of destruction)
the men who were at peace with you have deceived you (America double-crossed)
(betrayed by their Arab allies,
just as they betrayed Israel)
and prevailed against you. (and they defeated you)
They that eat your bread (people living in America)
have laid a wound under thee... (have attacked you treacherously)
(terrorist attack, at your weak underbelly)
(not direct military confrontation)
Note: 'they that eat your bread' could refer precisely to President Bush
who hosts an annual Ramadan meal at the White House, where Muslim guests
literally eat the bread of President Bush...
Note: the 'wound' could also mean a trap or ambush...
America being led into a trap by its Arab 'allies'.
there is none understanding in him. (no way to understand your enemy's hatred of you)

Shall I not in that day (in the day of my judgement)
even destroy the wise men out of Edom? (won't I remove every wise man
from America? take away all wisdom)
and understanding out of the mount of Esau? (and sense from Capitol Hill?)
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom...
Does President Bush really care what God thinks about America betraying Israel???
About America forcing Israel to divide the Land and give away Jerusalem?
About America forcing Israel to hand over the Temple Mount to Muslims?

And your mighty men, (And your military forces
O Teman, ( O America
shall be dismayed (will be defeated
to the end that (to the point that
every one of the mount of Esau (all of the American leadership
may be cut off by slaughter (may be killed in a massive terrorist
attack on Washington DC)

For your violence against your brother Jacob (For your betrayal of Israel)
(inc. traitor American Jews)
shame shall cover you (you will go down in infamy)
and you shall be cut off forever. (The very End of America)
v11
In the day that you stood (passively) on the other side (of the Atlantic,
(of the negotiating table,
(with Israel's enemies
In the day that the strangers (When the non-Jews
carried away captive (used binding treaties
his forces (to tie the hands of the IDF
and foreigners entered into his gates (and Arabs seized Israeli towns
and cast lots upon Jerusalem (and plotted to take Jerusalem
even you were as one of them. (you were just like the enemy.
v12
But you should not have looked on (and done nothing)
In the day your brother became like a stranger to you.
Neither should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah (Judea and Samaria)
in the day of their destruction.
Neither should you have spoken proudly (... of the Bush Legacy)
in the day of (Israel's) distress. (At Annapolis)
Note v12 - 14 give 8 reasons for God's judgement falling on Edom / America.
They should not have gloated when Israel suffered calamity.
They should not have rejoiced when Judah was destroyed.
They should not have spoken proudly in their day of distress.
They should not have entered the territory of Israel.
They should not have joined in gloating at Israel's distress.
They should not have stolen Israel's wealth / resources.
They should not have waited in ambush to rob those escaping from Israel.
They should not have captured their refugees.
4 of the 8 reasons are to do with gloating and rejoicing and speaking proudly
while Israel was being attacked and robbed of its land by its enemies.
At Annapolis, all of Israel's enemies are invited as honored guests,
to witness Israel formally and legally surrender its land to those enemies,
under pressure from America. Bush and Rice will indeed speak proudly and
look on impassively, as Israel's enemies demand what comes down to the destruction of Israel. They will rejoice at Israel's misfortune. And God will bring his judgement...
v15
The day of the Lord is near for all of the heathen.
(The Rapture and Tribulation are near when America betrays Israel)
As you have done, so it shall be done to you.
(Genesis 12:3 Blessings for those who blessed Israel...
( fulfilled Curses for those who curse Israel.
Your reward will return upon your head.
(You will reap what you have sown)
(What America tried to do to Israel will be done to them)
(America's land divided, and its wealth stolen)
v16
Just as Edom once drank, celebrating victory over Israel on Mt Zion (Temple Mt)
so in the the last days all the nations will drink God's cup of judgement.
(As the nations, led by America, celebrate victory over Israel,
they will be judged by God for it... See Zechariah, Jerusalem a 'cup of trembling')
v17
But on Mt Zion there will be a remnant who will escape capture,
and it will be a holy place again. (Israel will keep Jerusalem, especially Temple Mt)
and the house of Jacob (and the Temple will be rebuilt)
will possess their possessions. (Israel will own and live in ALL of the Land of Israel)
(The descendents of Jacob will conquer those
(who had conquered them. = The Muslims.
v18 - 20 Tell of the people of Israel defeating their enemies on all sides of Israel.
Israel will occupy the mount of Esau (southern Jordan)... the Philistines (Gaza)...
the fields of Ephraim and Samaria (Samaria)... and Gilead (northern Jordan)...
even unto Zarephath (South Lebanon)... and the captivity of Jerusalem (Jewish exiles)
who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the south (the Negev).
And where is Sepharad?
Unknown... but traditionally thought to be a distant place, such as Spain...
but could be America... After America is judged by God for its betrayal of Israel,
American Jews will need to leave for Israel... the only place to have enough
space for 4 or 5 million olim is the Negev... Ironic that most of the money donated
to the Jewish National Fund to develop the Negev comes from American Jews...
v21
And saviors shall come up on mount Zion (those who have been saved
to judge the mount of Esau (shall come up on Mt Zion
and the kingdom shall be the Lord's. (to rule over the mount of Esau
(and the land of Israel will belong to the Lord.
